The story of Madame B’s Boutique
I started this business because I was disappointed by my shopping experiences when planning my own wedding. The accessories in particular were all either cheap and nasty or terrifyingly expensive, a homogeneous sea of pastels and diamanté. There had to be a better way!
I love vintage fashion, and I had been experimenting with making little fascinators and corsages from vintage fabric. I decided to up my game and learn some serious millinery (hat-making) skills from the London College of Fashion, and totally fell in love with this not-quite-lost art.
Now, I use a combination of traditional skills and design ideas from the 1940s-60s, and mix them up with a little goth, burlesque and boho to create something totally unique. Think Marlene Dietrich and Helena Bonham-Carter having a night on the town, and you get the idea!
Check out my Shop and Gallery pages to see more examples of my work. If you want to fall in love with the art of millinery too, I also run workshops! Check out my Workshops and Events page for more details.
